         KITAN SORUNKE

Kitan Stm

     FROM SUPER SAINT

     TO HAPPY HATTER

Kitan LT

Kitan Sorunke has proved to be another success story for St Martins FC after being spotted by Luton Town F. C, whilst playing for the Saints.

St Martins FC have provided the platform for many local boys progressing through the ranks and Kitan (recently signed by the Hatters) is just the latest in a long line of ex Saints to be given a superb opportunity in terms of being able to develop his already undouted skills.

His dad Lawrence said that they moved down from North London and St Martins FC was the 1st Club they were aware of stating "in hindsight we couldnt of joined a better club". Kitan played in the Saints Under 9 team in the 2008/9 season. Kitan attended St Martins Kick Start Programme in the summer of 2008.

Mr Sorunke thanked St Martins FC for giving Kitan the chance and as they say the rest is history.

St Martins FC would like to wish Kitan every success in his new venture.

W L C 2010 200

Super Saint Martins Ladies became the Beds & Herts League Cup Champions on Sunday after defeating local and arch rivals Leighton Utd. In what has proved to be an incredible run the Saints were competing in their 3rd League cup final in 4 years. This year it was to be 3rd time lucky after the previous two had ended in defeat. However luck had no part to play on this occasion. Grit, determination and the sheer will to win was the order of the day and the Saints had that in abundance. Leighton took the lead with a well taken goal however St Martins hit back with a penalty after a Utd defender was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area. Samairah Khan kept her cool stepping up to send the keeper the wrong way sending both teams in level at half time – however not before stand in Saints keeper Natasha Hippolyte produced an absolutely fantastic save tipping the ball over the bar. The second half saw plenty of football being played without either keeper really being tested. However with 3 minutes remaining up popped Dan Carty to produce a wonder strike from a free kick 25 yards out. Both Defenders and Strikers jumped to try and make contact. The shot was simply too good and the result was the ball hitting the back of the net and Saint Martins taking the lead. Utd pushed on and created a couple of decent chances but it was to be the girls in Orange who would be celebrating come the final whistle sending more than 200 supporters into wild celebrations. Manager Martyn Fisher was quick to pay tribute to 1st team coach Barry Ross for his hard work and commitment on the training pitch in addition to Anika Leslie-Walker (Beds FA) for her contribution with training and support in general. "This was a team effort and I genuinely think we just about deserved it" Martyn stated. Saint Martins would also like to acknowledge and thank the Womens teams sponsors Rossbro (interior & exterior decorators) This is their 8th year sponsoring the team. See match report.

U14 Girls win League Cup Final

Shannon Naughton produced a Captains display in leading the team to a fantastic 3 - 2 victory against a spirited Kempston side. A wonder strike from Indie Nanton, a well struck 20 yarder from Amy Bailey and a winner from Girl of the Game Sophie McCafferty ensured the trophy came back with the Saints. Saints Manager Paul Cullen stated "This was a great day for St Martins Football Club and in particular the girls section. The boys have been producing some great results over the past few years and so this was nice for the girls to get on the trophy trail. This was a real team effort and whilst the girls did the business on the football pitch, I have to say a big thank you to all of the Saints, Parents and Supporters for their fantastic support. I would also like to give special mention to Kempston's Manager, Coaches, Supporters and Players for their sporting attitude, before, during and after the game" See U14s match report for further comment.

Super Saints
make it a year unbeaten

St Martins U10s crossed a magical figure at the end of January in going a full calendar year unbeaten. The team are currently defending their league title from last season and are well on the way to this as they proudly sit top of the CJ7s U10s Division 1, in addition to having reached this seasons League Cup Final. Manager Paul Hayward stated "The boys have been absolutely tremendous. This is our 3rd season together and there attitude is absolutely tremendous, both on and off the pitch" The team are looking to build on their success and Paul is already looking forward to next season when the boys make the transition to 11 a side. Paul stated "Were very focussed on the remainder of this season, but I am keeping one eye on next year and whilst we will remain loyal to the boys already in the squad, we will also be looking to recruit. We have a first class 3rd generation training facility at Lealands which I am sure has helped in the development of the boys. I am sure we will be able to attract a number of new players to compliment our already excellent squad.

Super Saints Offer
25% Family Discount

St Martins FC have this season officialy launched their family discount scheme in offering a 25% discount in subs to all families with a second child playing for the Saints. As a Community Chartered Standard Club the Saints wanted to offer this small gesture. In these difficult times the 25% discount offers each family with a 2nd child playing for the Saints a £24.00 saving for the second child. Saints Club Spokesman stated: "It's a great idea and one I think recognises not only the fact families do not have a bottomless pit to keep digging into, but one which rewards loyalty" "Perhaps we could start a trend with other local clubs offering something of a similar nature"
